How to reach us
Email is the fastest route and it goes to an editor: contact@homecoverdesk.com. Include the page you are writing about — a link is ideal — and what you would like us to look at. If you are reporting an error, quoting the sentence helps more than anything else you can send.
The same address, and the legal entity that operates this site, appear in the footer of every page.
We do not publish a postal address, and we would rather tell you why than leave you wondering. This site is run by a small company from a private address, and a street address in the footer of every page on this site is permanent in a way a web page is not — it is scraped, archived and indexed within days. So the footer states that plainly, rather than showing you a placeholder or an address that is not really an office. Email reaches us; post does not. If that changes, the footer will carry a real address and this paragraph will go.
Where different things go
Some of what people write to us about is better handled elsewhere, and we would rather say so quickly than reply slowly.
| If you want to… | Where it goes | Typical response |
|---|---|---|
| Report an error on a page | Straight to the editor. See our corrections policy | We read everything. We are not going to publish a response time we have nothing in place to measure |
| Ask a question about something we published | The editor | No committed response time |
| Ask about our sources or reuse a figure | The editor. Most answers are already on our methodology page | No committed response time |
| Press or research inquiry | The editor | No committed response time |
| Get advice about your own policy or claim | We cannot help. We are not licensed, we have not seen your policy, and we do not give advice on individual coverage | Call a licensed agent — your own, or one you choose — or your state department of insurance |
| Get a quote | We cannot provide one. We do not sell insurance | A licensed agent can run one for your property. Call us and we will put you in touch with one — we do not run quotes ourselves and hold no license to |
| Complain about an insurer | Your state department of insurance, which has powers we do not | Free, and it creates a record |
A note on privacy
There is no contact form on this site, no newsletter signup, and no quote tool. If you email us, we have your email address because you sent it to us — and we use it to reply to you and nothing else.
We do not sell, share or broker reader data, and we never call anyone. We have no mechanism to. Calls to the number on this site go one direction only: from you, when you choose to make them. We hold no reader phone numbers to call back.
Corrections to this page (3)
We publish these rather than editing quietly. Our corrections policy explains how we handle errors.
- — The address published here changed. Until today this site printed the operator's own company mailbox at another domain. It now publishes contact@homecoverdesk.com, which forwards to the same people and is read by the same editor — nothing about who answers has changed. We are recording it because an address in a footer is a promise about where mail arrives, and a reader who wrote to the old one deserves to know it was not a different desk.
- — Our contact page did not contain a contact address. It said the email “appears in the footer”; the footer printed it as plain text, unlinked, beside a placeholder postal address; and our corrections policy told readers to “use the address on our contact page”. The error-reporting route the whole editorial policy rests on was a loop with no exit. The address is now on this page and is a working link, here and in every footer.
- — Our routing table and an FAQ directed readers to a licensed agency by telephone for help with a policy or a quote, at a time when this site had no telephone number at all — a dead end on the page whose only job is telling people where to go. There is a number now, and it reaches us rather than an agency.
How we researched this
This page carries no external sources.
What we could not find
This page makes 1 claim that something does not exist. That is the one kind of claim you cannot check by following a link, because there is no document to link to — so here is the search behind each one, and what we opened. Not finding something is not a finding. If you know of a source we missed, our corrections policy says how to tell us.
“no licensed insurance agency stands behind this site”
Where we looked 30 August 2026.
- Checked whether any licensed insurance agency is contracted to take calls from this site, which is a different question from whether a telephone number exists on it
- Checked the national producer registry for any producer or agency license held by the company that publishes this site
What we actually opened
- No agency agreement exists. The telephone number on this site is answered by HomeCoverDesk itself, and nobody answering it holds an insurance license, which is why the disclosure beside every appearance of that number says we cannot quote or advise, and says what the call is actually for
- The site's configuration records no agency, no producer number and no compensation, and in that state the template refuses to render the three call-related disclosures, all of which describe a licensed agency that does not exist
Frequently asked questions
Can you tell me whether my claim was handled properly?
No. We are not licensed and we have not seen your policy or your claim file. Your state department of insurance reviews claim-handling complaints, and it is free.
Will you recommend an insurer for me?
No. We publish no ratings or rankings of insurers and we do not make recommendations. A licensed agent can discuss what is available where you live.
Do you accept guest posts or sponsored content?
No. We do not publish sponsored content, guest articles, or paid links of any kind, and we do not accept payment from insurers.
Can I reuse something from this site?
Usually, with a link. Our methodology page explains which figures are ours to share and which should be taken from the original source.
